Huge Powerball jackpot up for grabs Wednesday night

The Powerball multi-state lottery jackpot built to $1,300,000,000 (lump-sum cash payout $$589 million) Wednesday night when there were no jackpot winning tickets in the $1,100,000,000 drawing, lottery officials said. The numbers drawn Monday night, September 1st, 2025 were 08, 23, 25, 40, 53 and Powerball number was 05. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 40 draws since Monday, June 2nd, 2025. The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in CA, matched all six numbers for a 207,000,000 top prize.
Though there was no jackpot winner Monday evening, some people still walked away with huge pile of cash. There were 12 lucky players that correctly matched all 5 white ball numbers and won the 2nd prize. The ten second prize winning ticket(s) bought in CA(1), FL(1), KY(1), MA(1), MI(1), NJ(2), NY(1), PA(1) and VA(1) will collect $1,000,000 cash. The other 2 second prize winner(s) from MT(1) and NC(1) also bought Power Play, which doubled the prize to $2,000,000 cash win!
Other prizes won Monday night included 124 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000. 25 additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied the prize 4 times to $40,000 cash!
With nine prize levels, the Monday night's drawing generated 4,562,732 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball is one of the most popular lottery games in the U.S. offered in 44 participating states as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. Powerball drawings occur 2 times a week every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. To play, pick 5 numbers from a set of 59 and pick 1 Powerball number from 1 to 35. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Power Play option, which increases the prizes but not grand prize. The odds of winning are about 1 to 32. The odds of matching all six Powerball numbers are about 1 in 175 million. The minimum Powerball grand prize is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 graduated installments. Winners may choose one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
There were 141,692 Powewrball winning tickets sold in the state of Massachusetts. Four tickets sold in Massachusetts matched 4 white ball numbers plus the Powerball. These lucky ticket holders will receive $10,000 cash each. 295 tickets were sold in the state of Massachusetts which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers. The lucky ticket holders will collect $100 each. There were 43 lucky Massachusetts players won $200 prize by matching 4 or 3+1 numbers with Power Play purchased.
