The jackpot for Saturday Powerball lottery jumped to $35,000,000 (cash value $$17.7 million) after nobody matched all 5 lotto numbers and the Powerball number Wednesday night. The numbers drawn Wednesday night, January 3rd, 2024 were 30, 31, 38, 48, 68 with Power Ball number 08. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 36 draws since Saturday, October 14th, 2023. The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in California, matched all six numbers for a 1,730,000,000 top prize.
Even though the jackpot was not hit Wednesday evening, Powerball did produce some big winners. 10 third prize winning tickets were sold across the nation. These included 7 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000.
Additional prizes won Wednesday evening included 166 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $100. 45 additional players not only matched 4 white ball, but in addition purchased the Power Play option, double the winnings to a total win of $200 each! Other prizes won Wednesday evening included 477 tickets that matched 3 white numbers together with Powerball and won $100. 147 additional tickets at this prize level were also bought with the Power Play option that doubled winnings to $200 cash.
With 9 different prize levels, the Wednesday night's drawing generated 417,501 winning tickets across U.S. with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. The minimum Powerball grand prize is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 graduated payments. Winners may choose one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
