There has been another rollover in the grand prize for the multistate Powerball game - to $543,000,000. The cash option stands at a projected $$272.2 million up for grab. The grand prize grew because no player hit all five white ball numbers and the Powerball number from Saturday night's $535,000,000 drawing. The numbers from Saturday night, December 16th, 2023 were 03, 09, 10, 20, 62 and Powerball number was 25.
Although the jackpot was not awarded Saturday evening, Powerball did produce some big winners. There were two tickets that matched all 5 white ball numbers and won the second prize. The two lucky ticket(s) sold in New Jersey(1) and Wisconsin(1), each won $1 million cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Additional prizes won Saturday evening included 35 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. 11 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash! Additional winners Saturday evening included 762 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $100. 262 additional players not just matched 4 white ball, and also purchased the Power Play option, double the winnings to a total win of $200 each! Additional prizes won Saturday evening included 1756 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Powerball and won $100. 541 additional tickets of this prize level were also bought with the Power Play option that doubled the prize to $200 cash.
With nine prize levels, the Saturday night's drawing generated 1,049,284 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball lottery can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. To play, choose 5 numbers from a set of 59 then choose a Powerball number from 1 to 35. The overall odds of winning are about 1 to 32. The chances of matching 6 Powerball numbers are about 1 in 175 million. The minimum Powerball advertised grand prize is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment installments in 29 years. Winners can select one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
