The Mega Millions lottery grand prize is on the move again. The jackpot for the Friday, January 12th, 2024 drawing jumps to $187,000,000 with the cash value of an estimated $$91 million. The numbers from Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 drawing were 12, 15, 32, 33, 53 with Mega Ball 24 and Megaplier 3. The Mega Millions grand prize has been growing for 9 draws since Tuesday, December 12th, 2023. The last jackpot was won by two lucky tickets sold in CA(2), matched all six numbers and split a $395 million top prize.

While the jackpot was not hit Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There were 2 2nd prize winning tickets from Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing, matching the first 5 white ball numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The 2 second prize winning ticket(s) sold in CA(2) will collect a quarter million dollar cash each.

Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 12 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Also, 257 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $150. 694 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $150.

With 9 ways to win, there were 1,084,992 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 drawing.

Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players through prizes. Around 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. To play, choose 5 numbers from a set of 75 and select a Mega Ball number from 1 to 15. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is 12 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 26 equal annual installments. Winners may choose one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
