Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $184 million; 1 second prize ticket sold

The lottery official announced that the Friday, April 2nd, 2021, Mega Millions drawing resulted in a rollover, creating an $184 million jackpot for the next drawing Tuesday. The lump-sum cash payout will be a projected $123.9 million. The numbers from Friday, April 2nd, 2021 drawing were 10-42-48-53-62 with Mega Ball 19 and Megaplier 2.

Though the jackpot was not awarded Friday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. There was a single lucky player that matched all five lotto numbers and won the second prize. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) sold in won $250,000 cash each.

Additional prizes won Friday night included 13 tickets that matched 4 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $10,000. In addition, 408 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $150. There were 871 tickets that matched three white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $150.

With 9 different ways to win, there were 1,393,098 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, April 2nd, 2021 drawing.

Mega Millions is one of the most popular lottery games in the U.S. sold in 44 member states as a shared jackpot game. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players in prize winnings. Roughly 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The overall chances of winning any prizes are about 1 to 14. The odds of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 258,890,850. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $12,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 26 equal yearly installments. Winners can select one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
