Powerball jackpot climbs to $48 million Saturday night; Four tickets won the second prize

The Powerball game grand prize has been pumped up to a projected $48 million (cash value $33.3 million) for the next drawing in the multistate lottery game Saturday night. The jackpot amount has been rolled over since no player matched all six numbers to take the $38 million grand prize Wednesday night. The winning numbers from Wednesday, January 12th, 2022 drawing were 12-21-22-30-33 with Power Ball number 24. The Powerball jackpot has been rolling over for 82 draws since Wednesday, June 16th, 2021. One lucky winner from walked away with $31.00 million jackpot in Saturday, June 12th, 2021 drawing.
While there was no grand prize winner Wednesday evening, Powerball did produce some big winners. There were four lucky players that matched the first five lotto numbers and won the second prize. The 3 second prize winning ticket(s) sold in Florida(1), Kansas(1) and New York(1) won $1,000,000 cash. The other 1 second prize winner(s) from Indiana also purchased Power Play, which doubled the prize to $2,000,000 cash win!
In addition, 8 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Powerball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. 4 additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash!
With 9 different prize tiers, the Wednesday night's drawing created 355,133 winning tickets nationwide with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball is an American popular lottery game sold in 44 member states as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. Powerball drawings occur every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay $1 extra to purchase the Power Play, which increases the prizes except jackpot. The odds of winning are about 1 to 32.
