Friday's Mega Millions jackpot leaps to $42,000,000; Three second prize tickets sold

There were no Mega Millions jackpot winners for Tuesday's $20,000,000 dollar drawing, so the jackpot will go to an estimated $42,000,000 with the lump-sum cash payout at $$18.8 million Friday, January 3rd, 2025. The winning numbers from Tuesday night, December 31st, 2024 were 13-22-27-29-35 with Mega Ball number 01 and Megaplier 2.

Even though there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There were three second prize winners from Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing, matching the first five numbers except the Mega Ball number. The three second prize winning ticket(s) bought in FL,MN,NJ will collect $250,000 cash each.

Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 7 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. In addition, 465 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $150. Other prizes won included 770 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $150.

With 9 different prize tiers, there were a total of 1,118,446 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, December 31st, 2024 drawing.

Mega Millions lottery can be played in 43 states and Washington DC. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prize winnings. Roughly 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is 12 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 26 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one lump sum cash payout option instead.
